LEAK AT TANK BASE OF FRP

The tank base of a Sodium Hydroxide is starting to rupture and leak due to wear and tear and sediments from the caustic soda settling the tank base.

In order to perform the repair, tank medium is completely drained and flushed. The tank was hoisted to expose the base for removing of loose debris. Next, Wrap Seal PLUS resin & activator and several layers of Wrap Seal PLUS surface tissue were applied onto the entire tank bank and base section. The repaired location was allowed to be cured for 24 hours before putting back into operation.

CRACK ON PIPE ELBOW AND VALVES

In a semiconductor plant, a 4” natural gas pipeline is leaking at the pipe elbow and valve connections. It is necessary to stop the leak as soon as possible without performing hot works and while the plant is in operation.

SealXpert repair putty and Seal Stic epoxy was applied onto the pipe elbow to stop the leak and reinforce the pipeline. Next, Wrap Seal fiberglass tape was applied over the repaired surface to increase the pipe wall thickness.

GALVANIC CORROSION AT PIPE SHOE/ SUPPORT

A 28” pipe is facing corrosion at the pipe support area due to direct contact between pipes and pipe supports, aggravated by entrapment of rain and moisture due to weather conditions. Wrap Seal PLUS Corrosion Repair System was applied in this project to prevent external pipe corrosion and reinforcement of pipe wall thickness to design operating conditions.

First of all, the pipe surface is cleaned and roughens to provide a good surface profile. Next, Wrap Seal PLUS resin and activator is applied onto the pipe surface to provide corrosion protection. Upon curing Wrap Seal PLUS Fiberglass Repair Tapes is wrapped around the pipe and pipe support to reinforce the pipe wall thickness.

CORROSION AND WEAR OF PUMP SLEEVE

The pump sleeve and impeller seat is experiencing heavy wear and corrosion from the pipe medium and requires repair and maintenance once every 2 months. After applying SealXpert WR204 wear resistance coatings, the downtime for this pump has reduced and asset integrity and reliability has improved tremendously.
